We appreciate that charities often work to a shoe string and in many cases we are able to negotiate discounts. The main cost of the budget will cover crew rates and equipment, transport and accommodation, and materials. In addition to the direct cost of the production, an allowance is added for unforeseen contingencies, and then a mark-up for our company overheads is added (the so-called production fee). Within the industry, this fee can vary from 15% to over 300% - as we are working with charities, we are determined to keep our fee down to 7%.
